Educating Diseases

Often parents are sick in the child differently than the healthy. The ratio is expressed in various kinds of "indulgences", increased attention and less strict regard to the responsibilities of the child. This is natural and justifiable, however, should not all forget that a child who cares - it's like, first of all, baby. And there is an important educational aspect of the disease , which can not be neglected. In other words, if a child is sick, education should not be sidelined.




Let's look at some situations in which parents lose sight of the important aspect of education in the disease.



Situation 1. "Fixed". The child is placed in the bed.



Bed rest is not necessary in all cases. Try to install it only on the advice of a doctor. After the child bezvylazno spend the day in bed, completely natural. It grows, develops, learns a new way, explores life - he needs movement and activity, in which he explores the world. And here the whole day is not going anything new and interesting ... The result: a boring state, apathy, and in extreme cases - the development of laziness and "disappearance" of children's curiosity.



Situation 2. "Disturbing". Parents are given to understand what happened was something horrible.



By their very excited talk about the disease, parents find themselves unable to understand, convince a child that has happened is something very bad. Baby responds not only to words but also in tone and behavior of parents. And if they are a chur restless, begins to worry and the baby. This may be undue concern for his health does not lead to anything good. A child in the latter may be subconsciously "namby-pamby", afraid of any rain and wind. But, again, in a pinch.



Situation 3. Most important. The child becomes the center of attention.



It is understandable that parents can not pay increased attention to their sick in a daze. But they must tread lightly and moderately. Various gifts, goodies, too affectionate attitude and dismissal of children's responsibilities means that some children are beginning to see some "benefits" in the disease. Just responding to the new situation, "he himself" makes a logical conclusion: when I'm sick, I make a lot more pleasant, so do not get sick if I more often? This can happen and not consciously, but nevertheless, the child becomes a state of illness "preferred" healthy.



We see that the education in the disease - is not a "Spartan" measure, but very important "component" of the disease itself. If improper behavior, the child may be hurt more than it causes the spring cold.



And for parents who like to fall from one extreme to, notably:



1. If bed rest is needed - it must be respected. Do not make a sick child to engage in something, if he is really ill. You can just try to take it with something interesting. For example, a board game, which does not require physical activity. Or give a colorful children's magazine or coloring book, or gather together a puzzle. Try simply to distract the child from the disease - the less he would feel sick, the faster the amendment.



2. Do not deceive your child that he's all right. Just think of it as an unpleasant phenomenon, which surely will be. And the child should be confident that the current disease - just a little trouble from which soon will be over. You will still have to discuss with the child about their condition (measured temperature, asking how he feels, etc.), but this should be done calmly and "businesslike."



3. Keep the measure between the severity and caresses. When a child is sick, education should not become an ultimatum: "When you're sick, we do not love you!" The patient must be baby attention, but he must understand that the people around him, he needs a vigorous and healthy.



Thus, the disease has a pedagogical aspect, which should not be neglected. A process of education in the disease should be more attentive and thoughtful.
